Its been a season of New Years for the past few months! First, we stepped into 2002. Then there was the Chinese New Year in February, and finally-with Holi round the corner-we have the start of the Hindu New Year! Great feeling, isnt it?
Ah!! And with New Year, its a time for new beginnings, and new resolutions as well! To be honest, it has never really worked for me, but then I do so often have this killing urge to be a part of the other half of the world that resolves and lives upto it!! So, I resolved to have a resolution this year. But, even after spending a couple of hours of serious introspection, and mulling over the plausible options to resolve for, I havent had much success in figuring out one for me.
However, I thought I might just share a few of the ones I did consider, in case anyone of you is interested
Lose weight Hmmhave you noticed that as soon as you go on a diet, you will be invited to a free buffet dinner featuring all your favourite high-fat, high-calorie foods? One of lifes ironies, isnt it? But dont succumb to the temptation
Give up smoking That doesnt call for a resolution actually. As someone so aptly put it, Quitting is so easy, I have quit a thousand times! But anyways
Take a class Now who doesnt do that already? I personally love to take anyones and everyones class, given a chance!!! This one is the most lucrative
Read more Okies, here we go!! The time spent in those long and unending roller coaster rides-from Delhi to Gurgaon and back-could be put to some productive use if we resolved to read more. If you dont choose to catch up on your sleep, that is
Dont fight with your siblings Wowpeople actually resolve such stuff? Anyways, have your pick if you should
Spend more quality time with your family With office hours running from 9 in the morning, to 9 the next morning, do we really have the time? But then, as they say: If there is a will, there is a way
Be good to your pets Its not so easy to be with those hairy creatures, let alone bear the cacophony in which the house is submerged with pets around! Of course, if you can stand all this, you have enough compassion to be good to them anyways And by the way, I wasnt referring to your boyfriends/girlfriends/spouses when I talked pets. You are nice to them anyways, arent you?
Be honest Cmon! We are all very honest down to the core of our hearts, and further below! No one really prevaricates habitually, but its just that concocting up cock and bull tails is not only an essential part of life, its an asset as well! But yeah, we are honest. What do you say?
Exclude deterrents from your life Well, it would be asking too much of me to stop entertaining my friends! But then, its your resolution, so what can I say?
Dedicate yourself to God This is the ultimate!! How does this sound: Sweetheart, I am out to become a priest so you can forget and forgive me. I am making a resolution, you know? I personally wouldnt live to see the next day, but then thats just another suggestion for you all to consider
Call this sheer ignorance, or my arrogance, or-if you are kind enough-appreciate me for this, but after having spent a substantial amount of time and effort, I still couldnt figure out a single thing that I dont do without a reason, or dont already do. Resolutions are just not my style, atleast not for this year! But have your pick folks, for not everyones as good as me
